Compiled by Saitō Chōshū, Painted by Hasegawa Settan 1834-1836 (Tempō 5 to Tempō 7) Kaga Collection 256

Itabashi-shuku is the collective term of three posting stations, Kamijuku, Nakajuku, and Hiraojuku. Kamijuku and Nakajuku were divided by Shakujii River where Itabashi bridge crosses the river. The border of Nakajuku and Hiraojuku was near Kanmyō-ji Temple. This area prospered as one of the foremost post town along NakasendōHighway. In the end of the Edo period, the area within Ōkido gate at the entrance of Kamijuku was treated as inside of the Shubiki, or in other words, as part of the city of Edo.
