Painted by Utagawa Hiroshige I 1856 (Ansei 3) Tokyo Shiryō Collection 0511-C19

Hakkei-zaka or Eight View Slope, presently known as Ikegami Dōri, is a hill located near the Sannō area of Ōta Ward. It is said to have gained this name because eight beautiful scenes including "Kasajima Yau (evening rain of Kasajima)", "Samezu Seiran (the mist of Samezu)", "Ōmori Bosetsu (the twilight snowfall in Ōmori)", "Haneda Kihan (the returning ferry of Haneda)", "Rokugō Yūshō (the sunset of Rokugō)", "Ōi Rakugan (the wild geese landing on the lakes of Ōi)", "Sodegaura Shūgetsu (the autumnal moon of Sodegaura)", and "Ikegami Banshō (the Ikegami evening bell)" are visible from the slope. The "Armor Hanging Tree (Yoroikake-no-Matsu)" used to be located on the hill, and it is said that Minamoto no Yoshiie hung his armor there when he conquered Ōshū.
