The Iris Garden at Horikiri was a famous place not only during the Edo period, but it attracted many visitors well into the Meiji and Taishō periods. The current Horikiri Iris Garden was opened by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government making part of the original Horiki Iris Garden a park and this was later transfered to Katsushika Ward.
