Established as the head shrine of Inari in the Kantō Region, Ōji Inari Shrine was beloved by common people in the Edo period. It is said that Minamoto no Yoriyoshi came to worship the shrine deity when he headed towards to conquer Ōshū in Heian period, and from that time on Ōji Inari Shrine started to put together all the Inari shrines in east Japan.
