One Hundred Famous Views of Edo: Dam on the Otonashi River at Ōji, known as "The Great Waterfall"
Painted by Utagawa Hiroshige I 1857 (Ansei 4) Tokyo Shiryō Collection 0521-C26

Shakujii River is called Otonashi River in the surrounding area of Ōji Inari Shrine. Since the Oji Inari called upon the Kumano Gongen in Kishū (Wakayama Prefecture) and the topography of Mt. Kumano was also copied, the name of the river was also adopted from the Otonashi River in Kishū.
