Sendagaya Kannon-dō was situated in the temple of the Shingon Buddhism known as Kankoku-zan Shōrin-ji Temple. The principal image Nyoirin Kannon was a work of Gyōki and known as the "Medama-no-Kannon (Eyeball Kannon)". It was said that Sensō-ji Temple and Sendagaya Kannon-dō were the only temples in Edo that had a history of over 1,000 years at that time.
