The Kanda Myōjin Shrine was founded in 730 (the second year of Tempyō) near what is now Ōtemachi, Chiyoda Ward. When the Edo Shogunate was founded, the Kanda Myōjin was put under the protection of the Shogunate and in 1616 (the second year of Genna), it was relocated to its current position of protection which faces the demon's front gate of the Edo Castle.
