Nerima Chōmei-ji Temple from "Guide to Famous Spots of Edo Vol.4"
Compiled by Saitō Chōshū, Painted by Hasegawa Settan 1834-1836 (Tempō 5 to Tempō 7) Kaga Collection 256

Chōmei-ji Temple was founded in 1613 (the eighteenth year of Keichō) as a temple of the Shingon Buddhism by Masujima Shigeaki (Keizan). The holy place established in the precincts of the temple was created copying Mt. Kōya in Wakayama Prefecture, and for that reason the shrine is also called the Eastern Mt. Kōya or the New Kōya.
