One Hundred Famous Views of Edo: Meguro Chiyo-ga-Ike pond
Painted by Utagawa Hiroshige I 1856 (Ansei 3) Tokyo Shiryō Collection 0511-C30

This was located around the front garden of The Tokyo Metropolitan Center for Education and Research at 1-chōme Meguro, Meguro Ward. The name Chiyo-ga-Ike has its origin in a legend that Chiyo, a waiting maid of Nitta Yoshioki, drowned herself in the pond during the Period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties.
