Rokugō Watashi-ba (ferry) from "Guide to Famous Spots of Edo Vol.2"
Compiled by Saitō Chōshū, Painted by Hasegawa Settan 1834-1836 (Tempō 5 to Tempō 7) Kaga Collection 256

The Rokugō Watashi-ba was a ferry over Tamagawa River, which linked Minami Rokugō in Ōta Ward to Kawasaki Ward in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was located slightly downstream of what is now Rokugōbashi. Tamagawa River was once spanned by a bridge. This bridge was often repaired, but, in July 1703, the bridge collapsed because of flooding, and the damage was so extensive that it was never repaired again. The bridge was replaced by a ferry service during the Kyōho years (1716-1736), and the ferry continued to exist until the Meiji era. In "Guide to Famous Spots of Edo", the following is written: "The three great bridges of Edo are Ryōgokubashi, Senju Ō-hashi, and Rokugōbashi."
