Geta New Road (Geta Shinmichi) from "Guide to Famous Spots of Edo Vol. 1"
Compiled by Saitō Chōshū, Painted by Hasegawa Settan 1834-1836 (Tempō 5 to Tempō 7) Kaga Collection 256

Situated around what is now JR Kanda Railway Station, during Edo times there were many manufacturers of wooden clogs ("geta" in Japanese) along the back alleys at the western end of Kaji-chō 2-chōme. This led to the area being known as Geta Shinmichi (literally "Geta New Road").
