Shinbashi and Shiodomebashi from "Guide to Famous Spots of Edo Vol. 1"
Compiled by Saitō Chōshū, Painted by Hasegawa Settan 1834-1836 (Tempō 5 to Tempō 7) Kaga Collection 256

Shinbashi and Shiodomebashi were two bridges that spanned the outer moat of Edo Castle's defensive works. A culvert was subsequently formed when the moat was filled in, and all that remains of the Shinbashi bridge is a lone pylon with its name inscribed. The Shiodomebashi bridge was situated to the east of Shinbashi, it spanning the moat and joining together Kobiki-chō 7-chōme and Shibaguchi Shinmachi.
