Ochiai Fireflies (Ochiai Hotaru) from "Guide to Famous Spots of Edo Vol. 4".
Compiled by Saitō Chōshū, Painted by Hasegawa Settan 1834-1836 (Tempō 5 to Tempō 7) Kaga Collection 256

This scene shows the view when looking out from what is now Takadanobaba 3-chōme in the direction of Shimo-Ochiai. In Edo times, the area was well-known for viewing fireflies, a fact also noted in contemporary guidebooks. Many people also visited the area to experience cool breezes on summer evenings.
