The exhibition showcases a diverse combination of materials in visual media (illustrations, ukiyoe woodblock prints, design drawings, etc.) and written media held by the Special Collections Room. These materials depict Edo Castle both as a venue for the various annual events and rituals held by the Edo shogunate, and as an special attraction when viewed from the perspective of the ordinary townsfolk of Edo.

Exhibition outline
Chapter 1. The Donjon of Edo Castle
Chapter 1 provides an introduction to Edo Castle and its donjon in the early years of the shogunate.
Chapter 2. Ukiyoe Woodblock Print Depictions of Events and Ceremonies of the Edo Shogunate
Chapter 2 introduces the some of the events and ceremonies of the Edo shogunate depicted in materials such as the Chiyoda-no-On'omote series of ukiyoe produced in Meiji by the artist Yōshū Chikanobu.
Chapter 3. Edo Castle as a Landmark
Chapter 3 profiles how ordinary people expressed their observations of Edo Castle in sightseeing compendiums, ukiyoe, and other works.
