Floor Guide 5F
The seats for readers on the 5th floor provide a quiet place for users to read materials from the Library's collections, or carry out research. To maintain this atmosphere, the use of devices, such as personal laptop computers or calculators, is not permitted at the seats for readers on the 5th floor.
Central Library 5F
Special Collections Room
Approximately 243,000 rare materials, including classical documents, manuscripts, old maps, and Nishiki-e woodblock prints, mainly from the late Edo period.
Opening Hours 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Research Room
There are 19 individual cubicles, which are wider than conventional ones and equipped with lights and power outlets. Free Wi-Fi is also available in the room.
Green View Seats
The Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library has introduced Green View Seats next to the Research Room. The armchair seats, situated in front of a large window, help you to relax while enjoying the beautiful view of greenery in the park. We look forward to having many library users enjoy the seats.
Electronic Bulletin Boards
Once your requested materials have been located and are ready for viewing, you will be notified through the display of your reader's card identification number on the electronic bulletin boards located on floors 1 to 5 of the library. If you are requesting photocopy services, your ticket number will be displayed.
