当館が所蔵する約15万冊の洋書（英語・仏語・独語など）の中から、日本について書かれた本を「学ぶ」、「遊ぶ」、「暮らす」など、様々な切り口から展示します。世界から見た日本の魅力を知ることができるコーナーです。

「新年を迎える Greet the New Year」

日本のお正月には今も伝統的な習慣が根付いています。大晦日に長寿を願いながらそばを食べ、お正月には寺院や神社に参拝して、自分や周囲の健康、幸福などを祈ります。今回は正月行事や食べものを紹介した本など、お正月に関する英語資料を展示しています。 海外から遊びに来た知人へ日本を紹介する時にも、ぜひご活用ください。
Japanese people celebrate New Year in a traditional way. We eat soba noodles on New Year's Eve wishing for a long life. We also visit temples or shrines on New Year's holidays to pray for our health and our families' happiness. We exhibit some English books written about Japanese traditional way of celebrating New Year. Please introduce Japanese customs through these books to your friends from over seas.
